Mach 2 Mast Socket

Those of you following this blog will know I have been working on a new version of the Mach 2 Mast Socket with a local engineering company. The purpose of this exercise is to replace the existing plastic unit with one with a phospor bronze insert to try and extend the life of the unit. This should help maintain rig settings, rake and tension which are all affected by the socket wearing prematurely.

I got the final version of the mast socket delivered this week and have fitted it to the boat. I am very pleased with the changes which included making the top of the hole slightly larger and the hole itself 2mm shallower. The pin fits perfectly and there is plenty of room for all mast rake settings.

I have had a limited number made which, I think,  are already taken. I am prepared to get some more made up if there is a demand. Please let me know if you are (still) interested via graham dot simmonds @ blueteq dot com. UK price is £95 (Europe and outside please contact me and I will let you know a price in your currency).
