Adjustable Wand

A cold day at Hayling with the wind gusting over 20kts saw me bimbling my new adjustable wand on the boat. As you can see, the design is very simple with the wand sliding inside the square section and elastic pulling the wand up. This is securely attached to the standard Mach2 wand attachment.

At full extent it is about an inch longer than the standard wand and will shorten about 6 inches although I can shorten it further if necessary. Note the "Shoe Horn" paddle. The theory here is that it should disturb the water less than the standard paddle.

Although this latest design is untested, the previous unsuccesful one I tried demonstrated very powerfully how effective shortening the wand in chop stops the boat over reacting to waves, giving a much more stable ride downwind. I cannot wait to try one that actually will move under load.

If you are interested contact Phillippe Oligario (http://www.mothflyers.co.uk/) who seems to be moving into mass production with these things
