News from the Hayling Members Club

Today is a lay day before the Worlds start. We are all drinking coffee and generally very chilled this morning after a much better day on the water yesterday. Mike Lennon's 4th, 23rd and a 6th gave him 11th overall. Interestingly he used the Aardvark skinny rudder for the first time racing yesterday which obviously worked well. Truth be told though the wind was much stronger over the course which meant continuous foiling which obviously helped. The wind was still patchy and shifting around enormously. Good starts are extremely importantly and there are a lot of port tackers as a result. Unfortunately, the race team seem hellbent on putting the windward mark right under a headland which meant the wind around it was all over the place. Just placing it 150 yds to leeward would be so much better and the leg would still be long enough.

We are going to have a gentle day today. Jif is going to sikaflex his hinge and Mike will almost definitely spend the whole day doing something to his boat. He does have to measure Pete Barton's new Mach2 so it cannot be all bimbling.

The Nationals show that starting is everything and so I am expecting masses of recalls but this time with two fleets not one. Anyway we will see.
