Last weekend was spent at the London RYA Dinghy Show. Mike Lennon, Phil Oligario and Alan Hillman (with the help of Kiko) built and manned the stand for the weekend with the help of Sam Tozer, Helen Rollinson, Simon Payne and Ben Paton.
My thanks goes in particular to Simon and Amac of Mach2 who sponsored the stand enabling us to be there.
One of the highlights of the show was Alan Hillman's talk on "Foiling Fundamentals" on the main stage each day. Alan is a professional coach and runs Pro-Vela, a Moth sailing school in Mar Menor, Southern Spain. This is not only the venue for the infamous Moth Fest in May but also the Europeans in 2013. Alan's talk was extremely slick with video footage plus he had Mike's Moth on stage with him. As you can see, it all looked pretty impressive.
All in all, it was a succesful weekend and there are now a lot more people out there who know what that stick at the front does! Hopefully we persuaded a few more that Moth sailing is not as hard as it looks.
Simon tells me my new boat arrives next week which I am looking forward to. My old boat is going to a young chap at our club who I am certain will improve overnight with it!.
