Zhik UK Nationals Latest

At 56 entries this year's UK Nationals at Stokes Bay has the largest  entry since 1998 and possibly before and puts us in the esteemed Y&Y 50+ club. It is great to see what a focused committee can do to get things going in a climate where a lot of UK classes are struggling for numbers. I am particularly pleased that we have 8 overseas competitors joining us. It is a pleasure to share our event with them and it is the richer for it

Day 1 of the UK Nationals started off with a lot of rain and a 25kt onshore wind. Fortunately this relented and the sun even came out so that we were able to start on time at 13:00.  Stokes Bay laid on 3 excellent races and at the end of the day, Jason Belben from Stokes Bay SC in his Ninja and new skinny foils was keeping the Mach2s at bay with a 2,1,1 score line. Arnaud is second and Simon is third. The other Ninja upsetting the Mach2 perfect set is a new face, Chris Rashley again from Stokes Bay in 4th.

Today, a 25-30kt southerly, predicted for all day, was providing an impressive shore break so racing was cancelled. At the AGM, we announced that Restronguet Sailing Club would be the 2012 UK Nationals venue from the 21st -24th June 2012. A beautiful place to sail from and an excellent warm up event for the Worlds in Italy in August.
